What helps me get from Point A to Point B

Double Gripped Handlebars - I don't like wearing gloves (another thing I could lose) but I wanted the extra padding to cushion out the vibrations and reduce hand numbing, so I layered on a second cork-based wrap on the handlebars.

Back Rack &Top Mount Pannier- it can handle side panniers, but I find that side panniers mess with your balance plus they widen your profile when pedaling into the wind. The single top pannier has multiple pockets around the perimeter and can handle all my trip clothing. I hosed it with Scotchguard furniture and clothing waterproofer - everything stays dry. With the top handle and shoulder strap, it acts as my carry-on bag for air flights.

Clip on Axiom Front Pannier - handles all tools and food, plus has a clear plastic top to slide maps for navigation. It would sag from the weight I put into it (and rub on the front wheel), so I reinforced the back panel with flat steel plates(where it connects to the HandleBars) so that it stands up straight. The Front Pannier also fits nicely into a standard bicycle shipping box along with the dismantled bike, so I can have all liquids, gels, pedals, tools etc plus sharp pointy objects pass through security as my checked in luggage.

Rear Wheel - After having popped multiple spokes, upgrading spokes and finally pulling a spoke right through the rim, I opted for a rear wheel with higher spoke density - 32 spokes versus the original 24.

Cat Eye Trip Computer - Very basic. I keep it set to miles since most of my trips are Stateside and because I think a kilometer is such a wussy distance relative to length of a mile. The Cat Eye tracks total accumulated mileage, daily trip mileage and time, average speed, max speed and acts as a standard clock as well.

Shimano Clip in Pedals - It's a basic clipless pedal that allows me to wear a running shoe style of footwear, with the pedal plate tucked into the sole so the shoes do double duty for non-cycling (i.e. walking) without me clicking along like I'm ready to tap dance or fall on my ass on a smooth slippery surface.
